Integrated Neighbourhood Teams in Wolverhampton
Published: 21 January 2026

In Wolverhampton, we want people to get the help they need more easily, not just for health problems, but for the wider issues that affect everyday life. Integrated Neighbourhood Teams (INTs) are designed to meet this need by bringing support closer to where people live and strengthening partnership working across neighbourhoods. This approach is aligned with the 10 year health plan which emphasises three key shifts: providing more care in the community, improving prevention and early intervention, and ensuring services are better coordinated around people’s needs.
To make this a reality, OneWolverhampton has been leading work to shape and strengthen the INT approach through engagement with primary care, local authority and community groups. This has focused on understanding the day-to-day health challenges people face and co-designing how neighbourhood teams can respond most effectively.
A range of local people took part in engagement activities, including residents and community group members, primary care staff, social prescribers, and local authority teams.
Key themes emerging from these conversations include:
- Mental health pressures across all age groups, including children and adults.
- Long-term conditions and access challenges, highlighting the need for joined-up support.
- Social isolation and loneliness, particularly among older residents.
- Language barriers and cultural considerations, affecting access to services.
- Financial pressures, such as cost-of-living impacts, limiting people’s ability to seek support.
- Desire for more visible and local support, reflecting the need for neighbourhood-based services.
All feedback has been gathered and is being used to inform the ongoing development of Integrated Neighbourhood Teams in Wolverhampton, ensuring they reflect both professional insight and community voice.
