City to host free Healthy Ageing Festival
Published: 12 March 2026

Older residents and people who use Adult Social Care services in Wolverhampton are invited to a special Healthy Ageing Festival taking place later this month.
Organised by Healthwatch Wolverhampton and partners from OneWolverhampton, including the City of Wolverhampton Council and NHS Black Country Integrated Care Board, the event will offer a full day of free activities, health checks and support to help people stay active, informed and connected.
As well as celebrating the contributions older adults make to the city in work, volunteering and caring roles, the event will feature interactive sessions – including chair aerobics, Bollywood dancing, first aid courses, laughing yoga, and blood pressure checks – throughout the day.
A wide range of information and advice will also be available to support older people’s wellbeing. Among the services on hand to speak to visitors will be the council’s Public Health team, the University of Wolverhampton, Healthwatch Wolverhampton, OneWolverhampton, WV Active, British Judo and Adult Voices and Choices, and there will also be information around technology in the home, cancer and diabetes, scam awareness, and Adult Social Care services.
Councillor Obaida Ahmed, Cabinet Member for Health, Wellbeing and Community, said: “This event has come about following conversations we’ve had with older residents about the kind of support they need to help them live longer, healthier lives.
“The festival – the first of its kind in the city – will bring together a variety of services offering valuable information for our older residents and people using our Adult Social Care services.”
Councillor Paula Brookfield, Cabinet Member for Adults, added: “This is a great opportunity for people to learn about the resources which are available to enhance their quality of life, and I would encourage residents to come along to find out more.”
Stacey Lewis, Service Manager, Healthwatch Wolverhampton, said: “Bringing together a range of partners dedicated to helping older residents live longer, healthier, and more independent lives is a great opportunity.
“This event reflects our ongoing commitment to ensuring that people in Wolverhampton feel connected, informed, and confident in accessing the support they need. We encourage residents to come along, take part in the activities, and discover the services available to help them age well.”
The Healthy Ageing Festival takes place at the Bob Jones Community Hub, Bromley Street, on Friday 27 March, from 10am to 4pm. Entry is free, people can drop in at any time, and refreshments will be provided.
