“I love the opportunity to work with lots of different sectors to develop and improve services for Wolverhampton residents. For me this means working together to make sure people have access to high quality services in a timely way and delivering care closer to home.”

Matt started his career in the NHS when he joined the national Gradate Management Training Scheme in 2018. This gave him a wealth of knowledge and experience across multiple sectors, including mental health, acute and commissioning. Since then, he has held several operational posts, including Directorate Manager for Gastroenterology and Respiratory Medicine as well as a number of transformation roles, including leading the mobilisation of the Urgent Treatment Centre contract and the mobilisation of the Covid-19 Vaccination Hub at the Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust.

He has recently completed a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with Wolverhampton University and is now leading the transformation programme for the OneWolverhampton partnership.  This includes several key priorities: technology-enabled care, the development of integrated neighbourhood teams, community activation and prevention. A key part of his role is to bring together partners from both statutory and non-statutory organisations across the city to plan and deliver more joined-up services for residents and work flexibly to meet the changing needs local population. Key to this is ensuring the voice of the citizens, particularly those who are most disadvantaged, is at the heart of decision-making in order to improve outcomes and reduce health inequalities.

In his spare time Matt likes to travel and is a keen musician and enjoys playing the violin with a local orchestra.
