“It’s so important to listen to what people are saying at the very beginning of service redesign. You can’t develop and improve without speaking to people about it. It’s their service and if you don’t speak and listen to those with true lived experience you can’t have the insight and understanding that’s needed to make positive change.”
Stacey started her career working for a disability charity for over 14 years where she worked with people who were independent but needed some additional support. As part of her role, she organised for volunteers to come into the home and do different activities with the residents. She went onto to set up a programme called ‘Can Do’ in Birmingham and Wolverhampton providing skills, activities and employment opportunities for young people with a disability, working with local schools and charities to raise their independence.
In 2022, Stacey became the Service Manager for Healthwatch Wolverhampton, where her role is to engage and listen to the people of Wolverhampton. Putting their voice at the heart of decision making is something which Stacey is passionate about and being on the partnership board and at the front of what is happening and where key decision are being made is invaluable.
In her spare time, Stacey likes to spend time going walking and out for meals with her family and friends.
