Kate Warren

“When you work in clinical medicine you see the result of lots of previous things that have happened to a person and how they could have been prevented. As a public health consultant my focus is all about prevention and working to understand patterns and trends in the population and how we can better support people to manage their own health and wellbeing and prevent ill health in the first place.”
Kate qualified doctor as a doctor in 2005 and spent a further ten years in the Black Country training to specialise in Public Health. As part of this training, she worked across multiple organisations including councils, universities and the NHS and as such has vast experience to bring to the partnership.
She currently works for both Wolverhampton Council and Royal Wolverhampton Trust as a Consultant in Public Health leading on healthy ageing and health inequalities.
Her role in the partnership is to support with public health intelligence to gain a better understanding of the population of Wolverhampton as a whole and the level of need in different parts of the City.
She is passionate about prevention of ill health and bringing together the vast amount of data available to different organisations, alongside what our staff and citizens are saying, to identify who is and isn’t using services and how we can change ways of working to support those who are not to accessing them in a way which meets their needs. In her spare time Kate likes to go hiking, particularly in the peak district as that is where she grew up, painting and also plays the flute in a local band.
